Employee benefits can seem obscure and hyper-technical. But, they are very important – to employees’ lives, to employers’ relationship with employees and to employers’ finances. Benefits are approximately 25% of employers’ total compensation costs. There are different ways to think about benefits issues – from a compliance perspective, from a plan design perspective and from a strategic HR perspective. The library section of this site contains articles and posts I have written over the past few years, that looks at different benefit issues from all of these perspectives.
